Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill a full-time Senior Mechanical Designer. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating worldclass system solutions serving a broad range of applications for design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.  

This role will collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, product managers, and other teams to ensure products are designed to meet company quality requirements.

Expected Start Date: September 2024 

• Create and maintain mechanical designs, engineering documents, and Bill of Materials.
• Prepare detailed drawings used for purposes of customer approval, manufacturing, and final assembly.
• Maintain database with current version and revision tracking.
• Maintain design documentation within the PDM vault.
• CAD Designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining complex 3D CAD models, assemblies.
• Create and manage 2D engineering drawings that meet industry and Teal standards.
• Review 2D drawings and 3D models supplied by vendors for consistency in modeling and drawing standard.
• Contribute to the design and development of new and existing products and subsystems.
• Assist in the development and improvement of design processes, standards, and templates.
• Perform other duties as assigned
  
  

• A two-year degree in design or mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience. A four-year BS degree is preferred.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS for 3D design and modeling.
• Knowledgeable in drawing standards and completing tolerance stack analysis.
• Good understanding of a wide range of manufacturing processes: sheet metal, machining, injection molding, and casting.
• Strong understanding of drafting principles and design standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Possess 10 or more years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with electromechanical designs in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
• Track record of successfully bringing products to market.
  
  

Additional Desired Attributes and Skills:

• Previous work experience in drone/UAV design engineering roles.
• Strong CAD skills with emphasis on efficiency and speed of execution.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication tools, such as drills, bandsaws, and angle grinders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of ambiguity.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, as required by the duties and responsibilities.
• Adeptness in moving around the office, manufacturing facilities, and other workspaces.
• Proficient use of hands and fingers for tasks such as creating 3D CAD models and drawings.
• Clear vision for precision work and attention to critical dimensions and quality control callouts.
• Ability to actively engage in team discussions, presentations, and collaborative problem-solving sessions.
• Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines in laboratory or manufacturing settings.
