Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position for a full-time Senior Quality Assurance Engineer on the Product Quality Assurance team. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating world class system solutions serving a broad range of applications for the design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations. Teal is one of only five companies selected by the Department of Defense in 2020 as approved small Unmanned Aircraft System vendors for the U.S. government. In this fast-paced, rapidly growing company, a successful Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for validating both hardware and software in unmanned aerial systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customer support, cross-functional engineering teams (CS, CE, ME, EE engineers), and business development teams to triage incoming field issues.
  • Craft and execute comprehensive test cases to ensure thorough coverage of specified requirements.
  • Progress into a team lead role, demonstrating effective communication and reporting of findings.
  • Accurately estimate workloads, create timelines, and plan and execute various testing methodologies.
  • Play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and advocating for the end user within the Product QA department.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in quality assurance practices and technologies.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring products meet relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aviation Technology or UAS Technology.
  • Ability to get a Part 107 Pilots License.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar senior position.
  • Understanding of various development methodologies such as agile, waterfall, sprints, Kanban, EVT, DVT, PVT, requirements and traceability.
  • Design, write and maintain test suites and executing these suites.

Additional Desired Attributes and Skills:

  • Fly multi-copters (drones) with positional aided navigation or other flight modes.
  • Team Lead or other Leadership experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Atlassian based products such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Test Tools such as Test Rail or something similar.
  • Automate processes.
  • Linux, Android, Embedded Systems, ADB, SSH, Telnet.
  • Radio and Networking experience is a plus.
  • Scripting experience with Python and BASH is a plus.
  • MATLAB, C++, ADB, SSH, Telnet.
  • Familiarity with PX4, Ardupilot, Mavlink and QGroundControl.
  • Familiarity with WebODM, UgCS, or Pix4D.
  • Familiarity with the FAA Drone Zone, Airspace, LAANC, Drone NOTAMs and Waivers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry drone systems up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, all four seasons and in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work at night or weekends as needed due to weather or special projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
