Buyer

Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position for a full-time Buyer. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating world class system solutions serving a broad range of applications for design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.

The Buyer will report to the Director of Supply Chain and will be responsible for supplier management and procurement functions. This position includes procuring both direct and indirect materials and services, fixed assets, and tooling according to company specifications.

The Buyer will play a key role in negotiating costs, quality standards, and delivery goals. The successful candidate must possess exceptional technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. They should demonstrate keen attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a proven track record of effectively managing priorities. Adaptability and sound judgement are essential qualities for navigating evolving projects and product requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate RFQ, analyze responses, and determine the best supplier for procurement needs.
  • Generate detailed purchase orders and amendments for various products, services, and special tools.
  • Oversee, track and report on each milestone, from planning to purchase order creation to inventory receipt, to meet business needs.
  • Coordinate with engineering and product management teams to facilitate the seamless execution of new product release into production, including end-of-life obsolescence planning.
  • Engage with internal customers to ensure that specifications align with services or products per requirements.
  • Proactively manage suppliers to address any performance issues related to quality, reliability, on-time delivery, and support.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks through targeted negotiations.
  • Utilize a combination of quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to make informed decisions.
  • Maintain awareness of market changes on pricing, material trends, technological advancements, and shortages that may impact the business.
  • Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving abilities through previous projects, roles, or experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience within procurement and supplier management; OR a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field) and 2+ years within procurement and supplier management.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite with emphasis in Excel.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • Exercise good judgment and flexibility in evolving projects and product requirements.

 

Additional Desired Attributes and Skills:

  • Previous experience in electronics.
  • Ability to review and interpret mechanical drawings and datasheets.
  • Experience with SAP Business One.
  • Developed aptitude on computer programs relating to supply chain, software, and knowledge of purchasing/accounting processes.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Capacity to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to move around the office or warehouse environment as needed.
  • Visual acuity to read and interpret documents, including electronic screens and printed materials.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform tasks such as typing and writing.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues and external partners.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
