Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position for a full-time Software Engineer developing automated tests and performing verification of work against requirements. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating worldclass system solutions serving a broad range of applications for design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.  

Expected hire date: September 2024

• Collaborate on the design and implementation of new software components for automating testing.
• Maintain and enhance the existing Automated Test Robot framework.
• Verify that work performed in sprints is complete and bug free.
• Perform manual testing on the products at an integration level.
• Contribute to code reviews to ensure software quality and adherence to coding standards.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers and actively engage in discussions during code review.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for software design, implementation, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Possess 3 or more years of relevant experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Bash scripting in an embedded Linux environment.
• Proficiency in C and C++ in an embedded Linux environment.
• Ability to use source control with primary tool being git.
• Ability to plan and automate manual test cases.
• Ability to troubleshoot and narrow down bugs and problems to their most likely root cause.
• Ability to create bugs and manage them through JIRA
• Proficient understanding of software development principles, best practices, and design processes.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate within a team environment.
• Proficient in coordinating and managing multiple tasks.
  
  

Additional Desired Attributes and Skills:

• Previous experience in electronics development and testing.
• Already have or ability to obtain Part 107 certification for remotely operating small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).

• Proficient hand-eye coordination to assemble and test engineering prototypes.
• Stamina to work in various positions, including bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Ability to hear and interpret instructions and communicate effectively with team members during collaborative tasks.
• Adherence to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment within the laboratory and testing areas.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor testing of UAS systems.
• Capacity to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus for prolonged periods.
• Physical agility to operate and test UAS systems, including handling remote control devices and performing on-site troubleshooting.
